Simple tools to analyze and create secure passwords

passcheck.org is a website focused on password and PIN security. It provides simple tools that help users test the strength of passwords, estimate how long they may take to crack, and generate stronger passwords or PINs. The site is designed to be fast, lightweight, and easy to use without much clutter.

The website also contains articles explaining common security mistakes and basic ideas related to passwords, authentication, and online safety. These articles are written for normal users (rather than security professionals). They focus on practical advice, common patterns, and real world risks instead of complicated technical jargon.

The goal of the site is to make defensive password security easier to understand and practice. Many people still use weak passwords, predictable PINs, and other unsafe habits without realizing it. passcheck.org tries to explain these problems clearly while also giving users tools they can use directly in their browser.

Everything runs with privacy as priority. Your input isn’t stored.

How is passcheck.org different?

Most password checking tools just say “strong” or “weak” and maybe give you a score; we believe this to be a flaw. Users do not just need an arbitrary score or metric. They need clear feedback that explains what makes a password or PIN strong or weak, and how to build better security habits. The tools on this site are meant to be practical, but also educational. They do not only tell you that something is weak. They explain why. Does it use predictable patterns? Does it rely on weak obfuscation or overutilize common words? passcheck.org will help you understand defensive password security.

Is passcheck.org secure?

passcheck.org takes user privacy and security seriously. All of our tools except one work entirely locally, on your browser, and your data is not sent to our servers. The passwod analysis tool works through the backend for comparison with large wordlists. We keep no logs of your passwords on our server storage, not even temporarily.

Why?

Password security is a fascinating and ever-more relevant field. Most tools and resources on password security are either too technical, or too simplistic. We aim to help without distorting information for the sake of simplicity

Are more tools on the way?

Yes! Two more tools are being developed. The first one is a passphrase generator, which will be a useful alternative to our password generator for those who prefer memorable passwords, and we also believe it to be more compatible with modern security standards. The second one will be an educational attack simulation tool which will attempt to crack your password based on your personal information, and it will work entirely on your browser.
